We left Kyra's pork buns for dim sum. The kids don't seem to care for it, but the dim sum delicacy below tastes like coconut custard.
The kids much prefer the fried noodles for breakfast!
We stopped at an arts and ceramic factory where they make terra cotta warrior reproductions.
We had some fun with photos!
Then on to the REAL terra cotta warriors. Bucket List Entry -- see terra cotta warriors -- check!
So amazing! Thousands of them, each with a different face, because they were modeled after the real army of the Emperor who they were buried near to protect. They continue to "rebuild" the warriors and horses like giant 3D puzzles but computers now make the process much easier.
The Black Horse Mountains in the background (the kids are tired of posing for pictures).
The Flying Goose Pagoda and Temple.
The Muslim Quarter was so interesting -- a street of nothing but amazing snacks. We were full from lunch and were having a dumpling dinner so didn't taste anything. I'd love to go back hungry. Much of it was meat and some seriously gross displays, such as hanging lamb skeletons, and fried squid with flailing tentacles on a stick, and fried scorpions. But there were also delightful items such as cotton candy shaped like flowers!
The kids were so excited when they found exercise machines on the street! Who needs terra cotta warriors when you can play on these??
